Imagine a Laguna Beach where our vibrant artists can thrive without being priced out of their studios and homes, where our dedicated seniors can age in place with dignity, and where our heroic first responders—firefighters, police officers, and paramedics—can afford to live in the community they protect every day. This isn’t just a dream; it’s the mission of the Laguna Beach Community Land Trust (LBCLT), a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving our town’s unique character through permanently affordable housing and community spaces.

Founded in 2025, with the support of the City of Laguna Beach, the LBCLT acquires and holds land in trust to create long-term affordability. We’ve already made strides, including the recent acquisition of properties for artist live/work spaces. But we need your help to expand this impact. Artists are leaving Laguna in droves due to skyrocketing rents and housing costs, taking with them the creative soul that defines our coastal haven. Seniors face isolation as they can’t afford to stay, and first responders commute from afar, straining their ability to serve us effectively. Your donation can change that—funding the development of affordable studios, homes, and rentals tailored to these essential groups, ensuring Laguna remains a diverse, inclusive, and inspiring place for generations.

Now, let’s talk about the smart side of giving: the tax benefits. As a nonprofit, donations to the LBCLT are tax-deductible, allowing you to reduce your taxable income while supporting a cause close to home. For those 70½ or older, consider using your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). This allows you to transfer directly from your IRA to the LBCLT, satisfying your RMD without counting as taxable income—avoiding higher tax brackets, Medicare premiums, or other penalties. ( It’s important to check with your CPA or tax accountant) It’s a win-win: fulfill your IRS obligations and make a meaningful difference without dipping into your pocket.

Beyond taxes, your contribution creates a lasting legacy. You’ll be part of building equity in our community, fostering economic stability, and protecting Laguna’s artistic heritage. Whether it’s a one-time gift, a pledge of land, or ongoing support, every dollar helps secure affordable options that keep our artists creating, our seniors connected, and our first responders the ability to live in the City they serve.

Together, we can ensure Laguna Beach remains a beacon of creativity and community for all.

Thank you for investing in our shared future.
